The objectives of the demo project include tests, demonstrations and evaluations of advanced management tools and monitoring applications concerning the RES installations at Medium Voltage Distribution networks using the smart metering infrastructure with AMR connected to the Telemetry Centre of HEDNO.
The key goal of the demo project is to combine functionalities of two different systems, the Distribution Management System and the Automated Meter Reading system. The core of the demo project is a set of distribution management tools, which are based on the AMR infrastructure for data acquisition of MV Networks and deploy several advanced functions extending the main functions of Stochastic RES (PV) Forecasting and Probabilistic Load Flow.
In Greek distribution system every MV node is equipped with a smart meter, which transmits data to the Telemetry Centre of HEDNO. Smart meters are DLMS/COSEM compliant devices with modem as interfaces to the world. Every smart meter acts as a server and communicates with client applications running at the HEDNO Telemetry Centre. The installed AMR infrastructure includes a database and servers located in the Rouf building of HEDNO. The smart meter data are daily transmitted via GPRS technology and manipulated by HEDNO database.
The Greek demo project includes data collected from smart meters installed at MV (20kV) customers and RES (PVs) connected to MV lines located in Central Greece. The MV lines are fed by HV(150 kV)/MV substations and they are feeding MV/LV (0,4kV) substations, MV loads (mainly industrial/commercial customers) and RES facilities. Every node related to a MV customer and RES installation is equipped with Actaris or Landis+Gyr smart meters. The data deriving from smart meters are sent to the Telemetry Centre of HEDNO by GPRS/GSM technology periodically.
The project is located in Central Greece.
